Hiromi Ito, author of Wild Grass on the Riverbank (Action Books 2015) and Killing Kanoko (Action Books 2009), has just received the Tsubouchi Shōyō Grand Prize!

Translator Jeffrey Angles:  “I couldn’t be happier that Hiromi Ito received the Tsubouchi Shōyō Grand Prize, one of Japan’s most interesting literary prizes this week from Waseda. All of the winners so far are figures that are going down in literary history as the most influential writers of our time. She is the fifth winner, after Haruki Murakami, Yoko Tawada, Hideki Noda, and Yoko Ogawa.”

Congratulations Hiromi!
